Writers Are Only As Interesting as Their Thoughts

Expand your thoughts to write better content.

I want to argue that reading articles are more entertaining than watching them play out in a video. When watching the video, you are limited in what you see and how your brain displays images in your head. You see what you are going to be watching instead of having it open to your interpretation. An article that goes into detail makes its possibilities endless because you are left with interpreting what you read in the way that you want.

When writing, everything does not always need context, but it is left for your interpretation. It allows the reader to open their mind and think outside of the box. If the writer breaks down the materials and goes into details, you can still take on the information how you feel is fit.

This mindset is not one anyone can or has passed overnight. It took me a few years of reading other materials and articles to express myself in writing.

Your thoughts are what makes for good content, and even when you are in a rut with no ideas, there are ways to fix that. Indeed writer block does exist, so how do we overcome zero thoughts to inspire what we write?

New books and New articles

It can never be stressed enough that reading inspires and opens doors. In a world of little to no travel, you can open up doors in your mind by reading new materials. I don’t want you to read the same genres but venture into something you would typically think would be weird.

I recently started reading books on Buddhism. As someone that grew up in a Christian home ( I’ve never been super religious), I’ve never thought of reading in-depth into other religions. In my mind, it seemed taboo, but it was very refreshing, and I was able to understand my thoughts and things around me. This made me interested in reading new materials such as meditation. It helped expand my mind and inspire new articles.

No travel but still a new space to reflect

It can be daunting sitting on the same walls all the time. Some studies suggest that it’s unhealthy and can make a person depressed. We call cant travel freely, but a staycation with a new set of four walls to work in can be refreshing.

Check out Air BnB and look for a creative space to work in. The pandemic has opened doors for Air BnB house to be more creative with their home decor. It’s fun to see the new scenery, and working in a new space draws fresh and new energy. This new energy can be thrown into your writing ideas.

New conversations with the new and old

Im always inspired by new thoughts, even when they are not mine. Meeting new people has always been exciting for me. The more different that person is from my background, the more interesting the conversation. You can talk about their life perspective and upbringing to draw inspiration.

It isn’t time to disagree with a stranger’s perspective but to get to know why they have one. Each person has an ideology, whether it’s religion or experiences, to why they think the way they do. If we are open to meeting new people and hearing people’s thought processes, we can expand our minds more.

There are thousands of medium articles inspired by conversations with people they usually would not have entertained.

If you expanded your thoughts, you could draw inspiration. It’s apart of thinking outside the box — that weird book, traveling to a new space, or a recent conversation with a stranger. A writer is only as engaging as their thoughts.
